Donald Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway said on “Fox News Sunday” that the Hillary Clinton campaign is intensifying the attacks on Trump because they’re trying to divert attention away from Clinton’s various scandals.
Conway pointed out that the new Quinnipiac poll shows that 66 percent of Americans believe Clinton is dishonest, while only 29 percent believe she is honest.
“Those numbers have actually gotten worse since she announced her campaign over a year ago, and she’s earned that dishonesty and that untrustworthiness because of the ever-growing ‘scandalabra,'” Conway said.
As for Clinton’s recent attacks on Trump – which include going after new Trump campaign CEO Steve Bannon – Conway said that’s just because she’s seeing those troubling poll numbers and she’s panicking.
“I know she’s trying to divert attention away from her campaign and her State Department, email scandals, Clinton Foundation, foreign donations in the tens of millions of dollars by talking about consultants,” Conway said. “But the fact is that the hot mess that has become the Hillary candidacy cannot escape the fact that the majority of Americans think she is corrupt and rigged, and they are not going to want that in their next president.”
